A limited edition letterpress print of a quote from C.S. Lewis's "Letters to Malcolm: Chiefly on Prayer." It is printed with purple, navy, and transparent gray linseed oil ink on soft white Flurry Cotton letterpress paper.
This print measures 11 x 14" and will fit easily in a standard sized frame.
"Joy is the serious business of Heaven" was made on a 1911 Chandler & Price printing press. It passed through the press four times, once for each color and an additional time for the second set of flowers. Because each print is handmade, one at a time, there will always be some slight variation in a print run. The type is handset, one letter a time, and "Joy" is a hand-carved linoleum cut. The floral ornaments (Tellenbach Flower Ornament No. 2) are new wood type made by McKellier Wood Type as part of their Revival Series.
The print will ship rolled in a tube and should be unrolled and placed under books or similarly heavy objects as soon as possible and left overnight before framing.
I make all prints in my shop personally by hand, including typesetting, carving illustrations, and printing on the press.
