Letterpress broadside of the poem "Afternoon on a Hill" by Edna St. Vincent Millay, printed in deep purple linseed oil ink on cream Flurry Cotton letterpress paper.
The type for this print is hand set, one letter at time, in 24 pt. Century Old Style. The floral design at the bottom of the print is a highly detailed hand-carved linoleum cut. Each print was passed through a 1911 Chandler and Price printing press two times, once for the carving and once for the text. Because letterpress prints are made by hand, they may vary slightly from one to another.
I make all prints in my shop personally by hand, including typesetting, carving illustrations, and printing on the press.
The print measures 8 by 10 inches and will fit easily in a standard frame. Frame is not included.
