A letterpress print of William Morris’s commitment to changing the world, no matter how incrementally, through bringing more beauty into it. The print is 6 by 9 inches and printed on cream Mohawk paper.
The border is a hand-carved linoleum block cut inspired by the frontispiece of a late nineteenth-century American edition of Morris’s News from Nowhere. The typefaces used are Century Old Style and Old English blackletter. The type is hand-set, one letter at a time, and the print was created in two runs on a 1911 Chandler and Price platen press in my studio in White River Junction, Vermont.
I make all prints in my shop personally by hand, including typesetting, carving illustrations, and printing on the press.
This print was included in the 2025 Unbound Exhibit at Artistree Community Arts Center & Gallery in Pomfret, Vermont.
